ABOUT ANTIGONE
Antigone is strong-willed, loyal, and fearless. She said, “Go your own way; I will bury my brother; And if I die for it, what happiness!” (Sophocles 128). She is proud to die for burying her brother because he is family. Even though he went against the city of Thebes, she is still loyal to him. “You need not fear me for me. Fear for yourself” (Sophocles 129). In the beginning Ismene tells her about what will happen if she buries Polynices which is death by stoning and she shows no regard. She is willing to break the law of Man and has no fear for the punishment. This proves that she is strong-willed and fearless. Oedipus and Creon are both HUBRISTIC which is a quality that one does not want in a leader. It tends to cloud their judgement so they make rash decisions. Creon and Oedipus both create a harsh and unreasonable punishment. Oedipus creates one for the killer of Laius and Creon creates one for Antigone.
