Antigone would be the best ruler of Thebes because she is not afraid to fight for what she believes in even if it costs her life. She is loyal to her brother because she stood by him even though he was a traitor. She said, “Convicted of reverence-I shall be content to lie beside a brother whom i love” (128). She did not go against creon’s decree because she wanted to rebel, she did it because it was the right thing to do. The ideal ruler of thebes is loyal and they will stand up for what is right. Creon was selfish and did not follow the laws of the gods. he only did the right thing when his life was in danger. Oedipus never helped the people of thebes until he was told that the city would perish. he killed his father and slept with his mother.
